Home on the Front Range

Vectra Bank, a commercial bank with over 40 bank locations across the Rocky Mountain region, launched their branded campaign, “Big Enough To Count / Small Enough To Care.” They came to our team to set in motion a set of executions, including an animated TV spot.
We’re passionate about helping clients who are passionate about their business. I led our team in the concept and design, and directed animators through the execution of the campaign.
Having never done animations for their brand previously, Vectra Bank looked to us to establish the brand in a new way. The element of their brand recognition was the driving force and informed our creative decisions. They were so pleased with the animation that they wanted another one.

Not too hot. Not too cold.

To play along with the “Just Right” feeling, we wanted each scene to correlate with one another. As you can see in the video, one object links the next scene in a unique way. For instance, the bank building in one shot becomes the desk in an office in the next scene.

Find the diagonal shape

We wanted the animation style to be brisk and quick, using diagonal lines and shapes found within their branding. This angled shape can be found throughout the spot intentionally, being building block for most of the assets of the animation.

Not just a card—a business tool

Continuing their campaign, Vectra Bank decided on another branded spot which promoted their AmaZing Business Card. They knew the style and were excited to see what we would come up with this time.
We wanted to be clever with our animation style. The card was the focus, and we made sure that every scene that was built maintained that focus. The messaging highlighted the uses of the business card in a variety of situations, so we were sure to have the card transform to the needs of the business woman throughout the spot.

A flexible card

The credit card has a transforming property, allowing it to be the desired reward of the owner. We wanted to show that visually. Only using the card icon, we built out icons only using the shapes of the card into a coffee cup, a projector, and a delicious fish feast.

Invested in details

While the camera focuses on the business card objects during the spot, we built entire scenes around it. We gave the purchase context and story, either by zooming in to emphasize on the transformed object, or widening the view to establish the newly created scene.

RESULTS

Big enough to count

Working with the leaders at Vectra Bank, I was able to strengthen my skills as a creative presenter and leader as I guided the team through the production of the TV spots. The final results of the animations bolstered confidence in the employees at Vectra Bank and led to additional creative work opportunities.
